Charlotte Ainscough explains why Disney, Florida with TUI has become her regular long-haul holiday

The first time I went to Walt Disney World, Florida I was two. I went with my mum and my grandparents – it was a big family holiday. We went back to Florida every couple of years after that.

I never grew out of it! My husband, James, and I went for our honeymoon and we go for every anniversary.

My daughter AJ’s growing up, so we can take her along now as well. James and I both work long hours and it’s always, “Let’s be a grown-up!” But for a couple of weeks of the year, we get to go and be big kids. Somewhere where there are zero worries. It helps that we love roller coasters, I suppose!

I’ve been nine times in total and I always book through TUI.

They’re easily the best on price and the service is incredible. They were super quick to resolve an issue we had with our room – great service!

The hotel, Port Orleans Riverside, was on-site and I can’t advise staying there enough.

When we wanted to go to the parks, we could just jump on a bus. The other thing I liked about staying in a Disney hotel is that the people are just so friendly.

I think it’s because they feel safe and they’re in this little Disney bubble. I don’t know, but they’re genuinely nicer.

The beauty of booking an all-inclusive deal through TUI is that we could choose our restaurants up to 60 days in advance. Some of them sell out fast, so this is handy.

If you get the chance, definitely try out Space 220. It’s brand new. It starts with an elevator and you arrive at the space station.

My little one’s obsessed with space, so she loved it. I mean we thought we were in space.

I was impressed with the food at the hotel. Some evenings, AJ would get tired so we ate at the food court. There was a great selection with a special dish every night.

Or you can venture further with TUI and take a break to San Francisco, Washington DC, or Chicago; there are so many great places within reach.

My advice? Just do it!

Near or far: Three hotspots to fly to from Bristol Airport

Short haul: Ibiza
Cala Saladeta, Ibiza (Image: TUI)

Holidays in Ibiza go beyond its renowned nightlife. The island’s sleepy villages, beautiful beaches, and UNESCO-protected old town tell another story.

Northern towns like Puerto San Miguel and Portinatx are where to find quiet sandy coves and flower-covered hills. Otherwise, Santa Eulalia strikes a balance between vibrant and laidback, with chic boutiques, bars, and a family-favorite sandy beach.

Check out Sirenis Hotel Club Siesta, where there are four pools and bathtubs on your balcony. Or, there’s nearby Ibiza Town itself, whose waterfront area is a mix of smart restaurants and vibrant markets. Sir Joan Hotel, facing the marina, is the place to stay.

Mid haul: Egypt

There’s a reason more than 12 million tourists flock to Egypt every year.

Combining ancient wonders with modern luxury, it offers history, culture, and relaxation – from exploring the Pyramids of Giza or sailing along the Nile River to enjoying the tranquility of a rejuvenating spa, elegant rooms, and gourmet dining of premium hotels, like TUI BLUE Makadi Gardens.

Egypt ticks all the boxes for holidaymakers drawn to great weather and white beaches, with Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, and Marsa Alam all touching the crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea.

After dark, its cocktail bars and nightclubs help the nightlife scene go beyond expectations.

Long haul: Mexico

Where to begin with one of our favorite long-haul all-inclusive destinations? Maybe in Caribbean-facing Cancun, with its 22km ribbon of white sand, shopping malls, and vibrant nightlife.

Otherwise, there’s Riviera Maya, which serves up tropical jungles and Mayan relics. Stay at Bahia Principe Grand Coba and make the most of its six à la carte restaurants.

On the Pacific side, Puerto Vallarta offers serene beaches and adventurous mountain activities. Los Cabos in Baja California is a special spot, too, with its desert landscapes and all-inclusive options. You’ll love Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa near Land’s End, too.
