Mental health concerns

Austin Butler was so invested in his Elvis character that Tom Hanks was worried and decided to offer up some advice: “He said, ‘You have immersed yourself so deeply in Elvis that, for your mental health, it would be wise to go straight into something else. If you just jump off the train, you might have emotional whiplash,” Austin told the U.K. Times.

Tom didn’t just offer the advice, though. He also had a solution. At the time, he was producing the miniseries “Masters of the Air,” in which Austin is set to star.

To become Elvis, Austin said he had to “go to the very edge of what is possible.” Said the actor, “Not every experience will be like that. I don’t think I’ll ever have an experience like that again, but if I have to dig, it makes me feel alive.”
