All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has confirmed its return to London following a highly successful debut UK event on Sunday.

Co-founder Tony Khan announced that more than 80,000 fans flocked to Wembley Stadium to witness pro-wrestling action, featuring stars like Saraya, MJF, and Will Ospreay.

This event marked a rare opportunity for British fans to witness a live event of such magnitude. The last major US wrestling show at Wembley dates back to 1992’s Summerslam.

AEW, established in 2019 as a rival to WWE, has considered this event a “huge milestone,” according to Tony Khan.

American pro-wrestler MJF, whose real name is Maxwell Friedman, emerged as AEW’s top star, defending his Men’s Championship with a victory over Adam Cole.

“I couldn’t be prouder,” MJF remarked after the event, expressing his satisfaction with his performance and the company’s success.

Saraya, also known as Saraya Jade Bevis, hailing from Norfolk, secured a victory as the AEW Women’s Champion. Her wrestling family’s story inspired the film “Fighting With My Family.”

Reflecting on her experience, Saraya said, “The fact that it’s Wembley Stadium in my home country, it was the most amazing experience of my whole life.” She added, “I never thought I was going to wrestle again” due to a neck injury that kept her out of the ring since 2018.

Saraya made headlines last year by leaving WWE, where she performed under the name Paige, to join rival AEW.

The rivalry between AEW and WWE runs deep, and Tony Khan is eager to emphasize that the event’s attendance of 81,035 tickets sold surpasses even the higher estimates of 80,000 when WWE (then WWF) brought Summerslam to the UK over 30 years ago.

“This is the first time, on record, we could find any [event] that has sold over 81,000 tickets,” Tony Khan stated.
