Tindall, who is married to Zara, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, expressed his sentiments on Instagram. He shared a poignant time-lapse video showcasing the Queen’s life journey, from her childhood to her later years, accompanied by Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”

In his caption, Tindall wrote: “Massive day in the sport I love, but I can’t help but start the day thinking about this wonderful woman that we lost a year ago today. #thequeen #rip.”

Tindall became a part of the royal family when he married Olympic horsewoman Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne, 12 years ago.

This heartfelt tribute coincides with the opening of the seven-week Rugby World Cup, which commences on the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. The inaugural match features France taking on New Zealand at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Over the weekend, the Prince and Princess of Wales will travel to France to support their respective nations in their initial group-stage matches. Kate, the patron of the Rugby Football Union, will cheer for England as they face Argentina in Marseille on Saturday. Meanwhile, William, who serves as the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, will be present to watch Wales compete against Fiji in Bordeaux on Sunday.

Their joint presence at these early tournament matches follows recent criticism directed at Prince William for not attending the Women’s England team’s World Cup football final against Spain in Sydney last month.
